Addictions and Dysfunctional Behaviors

Rescue Us Addiction Program (2015 A,L/P) This group provides support for all addictions, drugs, food, pornography, etc., and is an outreach ministry to functioning addicts and adult family members, bringing them to the local New Testament church for help and support. It is also a strong discipleship program for the churched and unchurched. Transportation and childcare can be arranged. Meets Fridays 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Grace Community Church, 1629 King St., Tilton. Alcohol Abuse

Al-Anon Family Group (Champaign) (1983 A,L) This is a mutual support program for people whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking. By sharing common experiences and applying the Al-Anon principles, families and friends of alcoholics can bring positive changes to their individual situation, whether or not the alcoholic admits the existence of a drinking problem or seeks help. Alateen (A,L) This fellowship is for young people (mostly teenagers) whose lives have been affected by someone else’s drinking whether they are in your life drinking or not. By attending Ala-teen, teenagers meet other teenagers with similar situations. Ala-teen is not a religious program and there are no fees or dues. TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) - East Central Illinois (1948 A,L) This group's mission is to support members as they take and keep off pounds sensibly. TOPS Club, Inc. is a nonprofit, noncommercial weight-loss support organization, with chapters located worldwide. Its two-fold objective is to encourage healthy lifestyles through weight management support groups and by sponsoring obesity research. TOPS publishes educational materials to help its members understand the dynamics of behavior change, good nutrition, and increased activity in developing a healthy new lifestyle. Annual membership, which includes a member magazine, and dues vary. There are meetings in Coles, DeWitt, Douglas, Iroquois, McLean, Piatt, and Vermilion counties.
