Collaborations

Age-Friendly Champaign-Urbana

An effort of community stakeholders to reach “Age-Friendly” status from the World Health Organization and AARP. UIUC’s Center on Health, Aging, and Disability (CHAD) is coordinating the local effort. Our SRC Director is on the Age Friendly Steering Committee.

Alliance for Inclusion and Respect (AIR)

The Alliance for Inclusion and Respect is a community collaboration which works to address and challenge the negative impact of stigma. The Alliance has used films as a way to increase dialogue about stigma and how it affects people with disabilities. Family Service is an alliance member.

Champaign County Drug Court

Family Service is pleased to partner with our local Drug Court which seeks to help people caught in the cycle of substance abuse to break free of the cycle of dependence. People participating in Drug Court receive judicially-supervised treatment. Our Family Support Director is a member of the Drug Court team and our Counseling therapists provide services. This has been a very successful program with three of four graduates remaining drug-free four years after completion.

Committee on Aging

The Committee on Aging is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes with the goal to inform and support senior citizens needs to the public and the extent to which their needs are currently met, and the gaps in the service networks.

Senior Health Insurance Program

No cost, statewide service that trains individuals to offer health insurance counseling for Medicare beneficiaries and their caregivers.

Aging Services

A group of students, professionals, and community members interested in issues related to aging well in Champaign County. Provides the opportunity to exchange information and ideas, to develop broad-ranging collaborations, and to disseminate information about advocacy opportunities. Meets the third Wednesday of every month at 9:10am at the Champaign Public Library. All are welcome! Our SRC Director co-facilitates the Senior Task Force.
