Volunteer Opportunities

Senior Transportation

Day/Times: Weekdays, 8:30 am–5:00 pm; provide at least one ride a month. Date(s), time(s) and ride length are flexible and agreed upon in advance.

Requirements: Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, personal vehicle to drive; completed application, references, orientation training

Volunteers who have a car and a little spare time each month are needed to drive people age 60+ by driving to medical appointments, grocery shop, go to the bank, their attorney or even get their hair done. Flexible schedules are welcome; we can use any time you have to offer.

Friendly Caller Program

Days/Times: Day(s), time(s) and call length are flexible and agreed upon by both parties in advance. Typically, 1–2 calls a week for 15–20 minutes per call.

Requirements: Age 55+, completed application; personal phone; social and emotional skills (friendly nature, being a good listener, respecting personal and program boundaries and maintaining confidences)

Senior volunteers are paired with other seniors and enjoy weekly calls together. Matching people with similar availability and common interests helps ensure that it’s a positive experience with increased socialization for everyone involved. Initial and ongoing trainings support these meaningful relationships.
